Make-up mishaps on the move

The College’s Clinical Adviser, Dr Susan Blakeney FCOptom, talked to Good Morning Britain (GMB) about the dangers of applying make-up while on public transport. Using make-up on the go is not a good idea – not only are there hygiene implications, but any sudden jolt could be harmful.

Sue says: “There is a danger that the mascara wand might scratch the cornea, which will not only hurt because the cornea is the most sensitive part of the body, but might make your eye more vulnerable to infection.”

This was also picked up by The Telegraph and Radio Five Live (listen from 1 hour 28 minutes).
