Daska Barnett

OPTOMETRIST
Specs of Kensington was opened in 1984 by Optometrist Daska Barnett. Her goal is that Specs of Kensington is the most respected, recommended and dynamic Optometry practice in London. With 30 years of experience as a practicing Optometrist, including a decade spent as a senior Contact Lens Practitioner at Moorfields Eye Hospital, she brings a wealth of skills to the Optometry team.
Elaine Styles

OPTOMETRIST
Elaine has been a part of Specs of Kensington since 1992. She is the senior member of the Optometry team. She continues to work at as a Contact Lens practitioner at Moorfields Eye Hospital regularly and so brings exceptional expertise to the Optometry team. She also runs Vision Care for Homeless People a charity dedicated to providing eye care and glasses for homeless and other vulnerable people in some of the UK’s larger inner cities.
Farida Ahmed
BSc (Hons) MCOptom
OPTOMETRIST
Farida has been at Specs of Kensington for more than 8 years. She and Daska share a special heritage, having both being trained and worked at the same Practice in Newcastle upon Tyne, albeit 25 years apart. Farida has a special interest in paediatric Optometry and is well known to the many children who visit Specs of Kensington. Farida is currently away on Maternity leave.
Prinal Patel

OPTOMETRIST
Prinal was initially a Dispensing Optician but went onto graduate as an Optometrist from City University. Her experience ranges from working within domiciliary care, high street Optometry, Glaucoma clinics and teaching Final Year Optometry students at City University. Currently a member of the College of Optometrists, Association of Optometrists and General Optical Council she has also worked with Vision Aid Overseas (VAO) in Ethiopia and other fundraising initiatives.
Lavinia De Souza

OPTOMETRIST
Lavinia has been with Specs for 3 years. Lavinia graduated as a Medical Biochemist and joined Moorfields Eye Hospital, Institute of Ophthalmology, where her research into “Angiogenesis and Drug Resistance in Uveal Melanoma” resulted in the publication of two papers. She then graduated as an Optometrist from City University. She is also a member of the General Optical Council and the Association of Optometrists.
Zahra Jessa

PhD BSc MOptom (Hons)

OPTOMETRIST
Zahra brings a fantastic skill set to our services. Her PhD was gained in studies into Correctable Low Vision and she has a particular interest in the care of older people, working in the Cataract, Low Vision and Macular Degeneration Services at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She is also a part time Consultant at the Royal National Institute for the Blind, involved in their Learning Disability and Dyslexia clinics. She won the Moorfields Star Award in 2013.

Nimisha Gadher

Nimisha has been with Specs for more than eight years now and is one of our highly skilled and dependable Dispensing Opticians. With over fifteen years optical experience, Nimisha has a special interest in ophthalmic lens design and also a keen interest in pediatric dispensing and brings exceptional technical expertise to the team. Her professionalism ensures Specs has up to-date product knowledge as soon as new lenses or optical materials become available.
Kamila Hola

DISPENSING OPTICIAN
Kamila is a fully qualified Dispensing Optician and has been with Specs over three years. Her special interest is bespoke prescription sports eyewear. Kamila has over ten years optical experience and has worked in a range of dispensing environments. She is fluent in Czech and is also a qualified nutritionist!

David has been in the world of Optics since 2010, starting his optical career as a lab technician, so brings enhanced technical expertise to our professional team, meaning more technical repairs can be carried out at our premises, improving our service and efficiency for our customers and patients. He is fluent not only in English but also Russian and Lithuanian.
